Abstract/Summary
MOLA Northampton was commissioned by Martin McDonagh to undertake an archaeological trial trench evaluation at Sheppards Farm, Wood Burcote, Northamptonshire. The works comprised the excavation of three trial trenches measuring 10m in length and were required to inform a planning application for residential development. A single ditch was encountered, which has been dated by artefactual evidence to the early to mid-19th century. A moderate degree of modern disturbance was evidenced by a layer of made ground associated with the construction of a swimming pool. The results of the evaluation have no potential to address the research priorities of the region.
