Abstract/Summary
Groundworks Archaeology was commissioned by Ms Sarah Bateman to undertake an archaeological building survey of an outbuilding at 3 Spinney Close, Warmington (NGR TL 07588 90959). This was undertaken in response to a planning condition on consent 19/00598/FUL. This assessment included a photographic survey as well as field notes and annotations and amendments to existing architects’ drawings. Evidence for structural alterations and changes in fabric were recorded in order to determine a sequence of historic development. This survey suggests that the building originated as a rectangular stone built structure in the mid-19th century, latterly extended to the north in the late 19th century. It is likely to have formed an integral part of the Malthouse complex possibly providing stabling and storage.
