Abstract/Summary

The manor house became a farm house in the late 18th century, and the left half of the formerly-symmetrical facade was demolished, leaving the facade as it appears in this photograph. The architect Sir Reginald Blomfield rebuilt the left half of the facade in 1920-30 whilst restoring the house. The photograph was commissioned by Gill and Reigate, Ltd, interior designers, who Blomfield may have consulted prior to the house's refurbishment.
