Abstract/Summary

Groundworks Archaeology was commissioned by SA Homes Ltd to undertake a level 2 historic building survey on two barns at Home Farm, Tiffield Road, Caldecote, Towcester, Northamptonshire (NGR SP 68753 50952). This was undertaken in response to a planning condition on two separate consents, S/1019/0973/FUL and S/2019/0989/FUL. This assessment included a photographic survey as well as field notes and annotations and amendments to existing architects'drawings. Evidence for structural alterations and changes in fabric were recorded in order to determine a sequence of historic development. The buildings surveyed comprised of a threshing barn and a cart store with granary at first floor level. They are of 19th century origin and form part of a wider agricultural complex with other buildings ranged around a formal courtyard.
