Title Geophysical Survey: Church Street, Sibbertoft, Northamptonshire
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2001

Abstract/Summary

Within the evaluation area was a series of earthworks. These were surveyed by the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments (England) and had a provisional medieval date. They were considered to have been associated with both agricultural and settlement activity. This survey formed part of a wider archaeological evaluation being undertaken by John Samuels Archaeological Consultants. Gradiometer survey identified a number of ditch and pit type anomalies that may have been of archaeological interest, although their interpretation was cautious. One area of increased magnetic response noted in the data was thought to have possibly been associated with a building or small-scale industrial activity. However, subsequent resistance survey over the anomaly produced no clear evidence of building remains.
