Title | Willow Lane, Stanion, Northamptonshire: Archaeological Evaluation Report |
Author/Originator | David Fell |
Date/Year | 2020 |
Abstract/Summary
In May 2020 an archaeological evaluation was undertaken of land at Willow Lane, Stanion, Northamptonshire. Eight trenches were excavated targeting anomalies from a previous geophysical survey and the footprints of proposed buildings. A single archaeological feature was present in the south of the site, in Trench 2. It is interpreted as a part of a channel containing iron smelting debris but is currently not securely dated. It may correspond with a bipolar response or linear anomaly revealed during the geophysical survey. The conditions for the fieldwork were good and a high confidence rating is attached to the results of the evaluation.
