Abstract/Summary
A programme of historic building recording was required on former munitions stores in Collyweston Great Wood, Collyweston, Northamptonshire prior to their demolition. A desk based assessment of the site has previously been undertaken due to the known presence of Roman activity in and around the site prior to the construction of the munitions stores for the nearby RAF Wittering in the 1950s. There are five main types of structure on the site that fall within the groups of buildings that are to be the subject of this survey. The buildings are of historical interest as they form a distinct type of military architecture of which few examples remain. The County Archaeological Advisor had recommended that a Level II Historic Building Recording (in accordance with Historic England guidance) is undertaken prior to the demolition. The buildings were recorded in writing, graphically and photographically.
