Abstract/Summary
Archaeological trial trenching was undertaken by CFA Archaeology Ltd at Church Farm, London Road, Bozeat, Northamptonshire to inform the planning application for the demolition of former light-industrial buildings, the erection of 40no. dwellings, a new village hall facility and creation of a public open space with associated works. The purpose of the archaeological works was to identify and record any remains of archaeological and historical significance. The groundwork took place from the 4th to the 6th of December 2023. Four furrows were located in Trench 05 orientated north-west to south-east. Furrows were highly visible above ground due to their topography on the top of the hillside. In Trenches 03, 04 and 06, a modern waste deposit was present, consisting of brick, plastic, scrap metal and concrete. This deposit matches the outline of the magnetic disturbance identified in the geophysical survey previously undertaken by CFA. There were no features of archaeological significance uncovered during the evaluation.
