Abstract/Summary
Archaeological Services WYAS was commissioned to undertake a historic building recording on the remains of three structures at Leyland Trading Estate Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. They represent the sole remains of Irthlingborough Iron Works, which was otherwise demolished in advance of the development of Leyland trading Estate. The structures were used for the import and export of iron working products, via the Midland Main Line Railway, and repair of vehicles and/or plant. At least one of the buildings was repurposed as a foundry in the early and mid-20th century and all were eventually converted to individual industrial units in the later 20th century.
