Title | Archaeological geophysical survey alongside the River Avon, Welford, Northamptonshire, October 2024 |
Author/Originator | Sean Emery |
Date/Year | 2024 |
Abstract/Summary
MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) was commissioned to conduct a geophysical survey on c4ha of land located on the floodplain of the River Avon, north-west of Welford, Northamptonshire. The survey detected a rectilinear anomaly in the eastern portion of the survey area, which appears to represent a previous stream channel overlain by a sub-square earthwork, potentially representative of a medieval or postmedieval pond. A ditch of indeterminate date was also detected in the east, along with other, less certain ditches elsewhere. Geological responses were also identified across the survey area.
