Abstract/Summary
Archaeological monitoring of land at Kangaroo Spinney, Wellingborough (Illus 1-3) was undertaken between 23rd September to 3rd October 2019. This observed the excavation of four trenches and groundworks associated with the construction of foundations for a new pylon. The trenches were situated south of a railway embankment, were arranged in a north-south to east-west orientated grid and were 6.60m apart from one another (Illus 2). The trenches measured between 3.40-4m in length by 3.30-3.50m in width and were excavated to a maximum depth of 2.80m below the present ground level (bpgl). All recording was in accordance with Written Scheme of Investigation (RSK 662306, 2019) and the Code of Conduct of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA). Contexts were given unique numbers. All recording was undertaken on pro forma record sheets that conform to accepted archaeological standards. An overall site plan at an appropriate scale and relative to the National Grid was compiled and digital photographic record was taken with a metric scale was clearly visible in record photographs
