Title | Chelveston, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, Geophysical Survey. |
Author/Originator | Emma Browning |
Date/Year | 2025 |
Abstract/Summary
A geophysical (magnetometer) survey was undertaken on approximately 4.3 hectares of land located directly south of Chelveston, Wellingborough, Nottinghamshire. Anomalies of both a definite and a possible archaeological origin have been detected including enclosures, ditches and pits. Medieval or post-medieval ridge and furrow cultivation has also been detected along with a former field boundary and modern ploughing. Geological responses can be seen throughout. Magnetic disturbance around the periphery of the survey area is due to interference from the boundaries and likely upcast material from cleaning out the adjacent drainage ditches. Based on the geophysical survey, the archaeological potential of this Site is deemed to be high in the west and low elsewhere.
