Abstract/Summary
This collection comprises images from Historic Building Recording And Investigation at Leyland Trading Estate Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. Work was carried out by Archaeological Services WYAS in June 2024. The three structures subject to recording represent the sole remains of Irthlingborough Iron Works, which was otherwise demolished in advance of the development of Leyland trading Estate. The structures were used for the import and export of iron working products, via the Midland Main Line Railway, and repair of vehicles and/or plant. At least one of the buildings was repurposed as a foundry in the early and mid-20th century and all were eventually converted to individual industrial units in the later 20th century.
