Abstract/Summary
This report describes the results of an archaeological evaluation carried out by Pre-Construct Archaeology on land at Harborough Road, Stoke Albany, Northamptonshire. Grace Homes Ltd commissioned the archaeological work, and the evaluation took place from the 14th to 16th March 2022. The aim of the work was to assess the archaeological potential of the proposed development site and to inform potential mitigation measures, as required as a condition for planning permission for a residential development on the site. Geophysical survey of the site had identified several parallel agricultural trends crossing the site, as well as some anomalies of uncertain origin. Two paleochannels and a series of furrows were identified during the evaluation. Small amounts of medieval and post-medieval pottery recovered from three of the furrows indicates that they originated in the medieval to post-medieval periods.
