| Title | ENHANCED BUILDING SURVEY(LEVEL 2) AT LITCHLAKE FARM, BUCKINGHAM ROAD, SILVERSTONE, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE NN12 8TJ |
| Author/Originator | Derek Roberts |
| Date/Year | 2025 |
Abstract/Summary
This Level 2 building record meets a condition attached to planning application 2024/3913/PIP. A WSI, and the recording work, was commissioned from Pre-Develop Archaeology, with fieldwork being carried out by Dr Paul Stamper, FSA, on 22 June 2025. The site of the proposed development (hereafter SPD) is an ablutions block for members of the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force, part of a dispersed Administrative Site on the west edge of the airfield. The ablutions block (lavatories and washroom) is one of two surviving wartime buildings on the site; the other is a Nissen hut (believed to be in situ; function unknown). The ablutions block, for some years up until most recent times, has been in agricultural use to support farm operations on site. The Administrative Site adjoined a stone-built field barn complex probably constructed after Silverstone’s enclosure in 1824. That complex survives.
