Title GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY REPORT: ‘Hardingstone Rise’, Land North of Newport Pagnell Road, Northampton
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2025

Abstract/Summary

A magnetometer survey of 43 hectares of land has recorded numerous magnetic responses that have been interpreted as being of archaeological interest. The survey has detected evidence of enclosed settlement activity comprising enclosures, pits, ditches and ring-ditches. Some of the anomalies correspond with cropmarks that are noted in the HER (MNN129298 & MNN6851). Ridge and furrow cultivation has also been detected in the data. The survey has also mapped a former field boundary, land drains and a service pipe. Two amorphous bands of increased response have been caused by underlying geological variations.
