| Title | GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY REPORT: Grendon Road, Earls Barton, Northampton |
| Author/Originator | Rebecca Fradgley |
| Date/Year | 2025 |
Abstract/Summary
A detailed magnetometer survey was conducted over approximately 4.3 hectares at Earls Barton. There is no definite geophysical evidence that the adjacent deserted medieval settlement extends into the site, with former ridge and furrow cultivation being mapped across most of the survey area. Anomalies of uncertain origin comprise linear, curvilinear and discrete anomalies which could be agricultural or natural. Two parallel linear responses form a continuation of a palaeochannel recorded as a cropmark and mapped as part of the Northamptonshire National Mapping Programme Two former field boundaries are visible, along with modern ploughing effects and an underground service.
