Abstract/Summary

Ecology Solutions was commissioned by Heritage Archaeology Ltd to undertake a programme of Observation, Investigation, Recording, Analysis and Publication (OIRAP) (an archaeological watching brief) at 31-34 Church Street, Wadenhoe, Northamptonshire (NGR: TL 01088 83394). The works were required as a condition of planning permission for the replacement of a septic tank in the garden of 34 Church Street and the installation of a new combined foul and surface water drain run to the rear of 31-34 Church Street. The programme of works was undertaken in accordance with a Written Scheme of Investigation (WSI), which was approved by the Planning Authority. All groundworks were monitored by an experienced archaeologist on 18, 19 and 21 May 2026. The OIRAP recorded a sequence of natural clay geology (001), sealed by subsoil (002) and topsoil (001) across the garden of the property. At the limit of the Site beneath the roadway, a modern sub-base layer (004) sealed the subsoil and no topsoil was present. No finds or features were recorded during the works.
