Abstract/Summary

MOLA (Museum of London Archaeology) was commissioned to conduct a geophysical survey on c12ha of land on the north-eastern edge of Northampton at Wantage Farm, Moulton. The survey detected some features of archaeological interest comprising an Iron Age or Roman roundhouse alongside a length of ditch, which in places more closely resembles an Iron Age pit alignment. Less certainly, a possible Anglo-Saxon sunken featured building was detected, with some evidence for multiple series of Roman bedding trenches also being present. Medieval to post-medieval ridge and furrow was also detected throughout the survey area.
