Abstract/Summary
Magnitude Surveys was commissioned to assess the subsurface archaeological potential of 1.55ha of land at Earls Barton, Northamptonshire. Specifically, this survey would fill a gap in the coverage of a previous survey conducted in 2013. A fluxgate gradiometer survey was successfully carried out across the survey area and probable archaeological activity was identified. This archaeological activity strongly suggests that a previously identified Late Iron Age and Romano British settlement continued into the northwest of the survey area with anomalies consistent with overlapping enclosures. Further possible archaeological activity in the form of possible field boundaries has also been identified along with ridge and furrow cultivation. Modern interference is encountered mostly along the edge of the survey area.
