Abstract/Summary

Additional trial trench evaluation of a proposed retail development area either side of Woolmonger Street. Two trenches were excavated to determine whether late saxon and medieval tenement remains fronting onto Woolmonger Street survive. Extensive Saxon and medieval pits demonstrate the area was given over to rubbish disposal. Recent cellarage and later development has destroyed much of the evidence, although areas of preservation were identified.
