Title Towcester Meadow Evaluation
Author/Originator
Date/Year 1990

Abstract/Summary

On behalf of Hesketh Estates two machine cut evaluation trenches were opened by Northamptonshire Archaeology Unit during August 1990 across a sinuous low earthwork ditch and bank situated in meadowland a short distance NNE of Towcester's Bury Mount. A single sherd of pottery from the lower ditch fills dated to the latter half of the C17, but it is unclear if the ditch and bank earthwork dates to the Civil War period or later.
