Title An Archaeological Assessment of land at Green Street, Northampton
Author/Originator
Date/Year 1995

Abstract/Summary

Desk-based archaeological assessment of land at Green Street, Northampton has shown that, while the site lies close to the centre of early Northampton, its post-medieval and modern history has been connected with the tanning industry. While test-pits show that the ground level has been raised in modern times, individual workshops may have damaged any earlier remains. The potential for medieval or earlier levels to have survived intact cannot be ascertained without trial excavation.
