Description

Manor house. Late C17 extended mid C19 by E.F. Law. Regular coursed ironstone with Colleyweston slate roof. Originally probably 3-unit plan. C17 wing to rear right of 3-window range of 3-light stone mullion windows. 2 C20 doors between windows have moulded stone surrounds with 4-centred arch heads, that to right is probably C19. Ashlar gable parapets and stone stacks at ridge and end. L-shape range attached to left may have C18 origins but appears mainly mid C19. 4-window range of C19 two-, 3- and 4-light stone mullion windows. Large canted stone bay window to ground floor left and central C19 panelled door with strap hinges and moulded stone surround. Bay to right breaks forward as a gabled cross wing with 3-light stone mullion window in apex. Ashlar gable parapets and kneelers and stone stacks at eaves and ends. Plaque in lateral stack to right has inscription "Restored 1865". Interior not inspected but said to contain Court room used for manorial purposes. (Buildings of England: Northamptonshire, p.93).
