Description

House. Early C18 remodelled early C19. Squared coursed limestone with Welsh slate and pantile roof. Originally probably 3-unit plan. 2 storeys. Elevation abutting Main Street has an 8-paned, unhorned sash window to ground floor right, under a wood lintel and a C19 casement window under the eaves to the first floor left. 2 single-light windows to ground floor right of centre. Central C20 door, under rendered head. Ashlar gable parapets, partially rebuilt in brick, to left. Brick and ashlar stacks at ends and lateral brick stack to left of centre. C20 extension to right has lean-to roof with old pantile roof. Rear elevation has central rendered porch, with canted sides and bay window above. Similar flanking bay windows at ground floor, all with sash windows with glazing bars. Sash window to far left and casement window to far right. Interior not inspected but noted as having early C19 staircase with stick balustrade abutting the flanking walls. (RCHM: An Inventory of Architectural Monuments in North Northamptonshire: p175)
