Summary

[Now renumbered 19] An early 18th century house that was remodelled in the 19th century is situated on the eastern side of Mill Street. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a double pitch Welsh slate roof with ashlar gable parapets and chimney stacks at each gable and on the road facing slope. The road facade has a central door under a wooden lintel and an irregular range of single light casement windows with an eight paned sash window to the far right. The first floor has a single light casement window under a wooden lintel at the far left. The east facing elevation has a central rendered porch with canted sides beneath a bay window. To the left is a sash window and there is a casement window on the right. A 20th century lean too extension with a pantile roof is located on the southern gable.

Full Description

House. Early C18 remodelled early C19. Squared coursed limestone with Welsh slate and pantile roof. Originally probably 3-unit plan. 2 storeys. Elevation abutting Main Street has an 8-paned, unhorned sash window to ground floor right, under a wood lintel and a C19 casement window under the eaves to the first floor left. 2 single-light windows to ground floor right of centre. Central C20 door, under rendered head. Ashlar gable parapets, partially rebuilt in brick, to left. Brick and ashlar stacks at ends and lateral brick stack to left of centre. C20 extension to right has lean-to roof with old pantile roof. Rear elevation has central rendered porch, with canted sides and bay window above. Similar flanking bay windows at ground floor, all with sash windows with glazing bars. Sash window to far left and casement window to far right. Interior not inspected but noted as having early C19 staircase with stick balustrade abutting the flanking walls. (RCHM: An Inventory of Architectural Monum nts in North Northamptonshire: p175)
