Description
2 houses, now house and attached outbuildings. Early C18 outbuildings, house mid C18, altered early C19. Squared coursed limestone and brick with Colleyweston slate, pantile and C20 plain tile roofs. Originally 3-unit plan. 2, and now part 3 storeys. 4-window range of unhorned sash windows with glazing bars with plain ashlar surrounds and keyblocks. Early C19 bow window, with glazing bars, to left of centre. 6-panel door to right of centre has fanlight with glazing bars and moulded stone surround with stepped keyblock and reeded pilasters. Ashlar gable parapet and kneelers to left and brick stacks at ridge and end. One-unit, 3-storey range attached to right raised early C19. Casement window with glazing bars, under gauged stone head with keyblock, at ground floor. C20 casements with glazing bars, in sash openings, to first and second floors, are under wood lintels. Ashlar gable parapet and brick stack at end. Evidence of blocked door to left of this range has stone lintel with keyblock. Range attached to rear is probably early C19 with former early C18 house, now outbuilding, attached. Regular coursed limestone with rendered facade and pantile roof. 3-window range with central sash under Lincolnshire dormer and flanking leaded casements. Various doors at ground floor under wood lintels. Ashlar gable parapet with finial to right. Interior of house: early C19 staircase with stick balustrade. Dining room to left of entrance has early C19 bow end with French doors; room above has similar features. Late C18/early C19 Adam style fireplace reset in Drawing room. 6-panelled door at first floor. Interior of outbuilding converted to stable has timber framed wall with herringbone infill. This building was originally in a thoroughfare known as Paradise Lane.
