Description
Shop with offices above. Possibly late medieval with C17 and C19 alterations. Timber-framed upper storey, ground floor probably of stone. Corrugated asbestos roof. 2 storeys; 3-window range. C20 shop front to left, carriage arch to right with flat buttresses left and right within carriageway. 16-pane sash windows to first floor to left, a C20 casement to right. Access to first floor to rear by C20 coursed stairway. Interior: first floor has close-studded walls, stone fireplace with 4-centred arched head against gable wall of No.8 (q.v.), a blocked 1-light window with pointed arched timber head at far end, and 3-bay roof with arch braced tie beam trusses with crown post, collar, king post, side struts and wind braced purlins.
