Description

Small Roman villa under arable. Building shows up on photos taken in 1960 as parch marks in the crop. Is a small corridor-type villa with a range of rooms on the north side and corner rooms projecting southwards. There is no sign of side wings to make it a courtyard villa. Traces of field ditches are visible surrounding the villa on a similar alignment. These may be part of the Roman villa estate. A pylon now stands centrally in the villa field, just west of the site itself. A scatter of pottery and tiles covers a wide area. {AM7 1985} Dense scatter of pottery and tiles. There is a substantial stone spread in the field adjoining to the east but no evidence of occupation material. {AM12 1980} Field remains under cultivation. {AM107 1982)
