Description
House. Mid C17. Regular coursed lias and limestone with thatched roof. 2-unit plan with gabled cross wing to right. 2 storeys with attic; 3-window range. Central entrance with moulded limestone surround has plank door. Casement windows with glazing bars having moulded stone surrounds with the exception of a 3-light casement over the entrance under a wood lintel. Gabled roof with ashlar gable parapets and kneelers. Brick and stone stacks to gables. C19 extension to left. Moulded string course between ground and first floor. Datestone (illegible) on left gable. Entrance at rear with 4-centred head, reputedly from Holdenby Palace. Interior: Room left of entrance has bressumer beam over fireplace. Staircase of winders with C17 flat balusters.
