NHLE UID 1003634
Date assigned 17 January 1977

Description

Terraced earthworks, under scrubby pasture, of garden and house remains of Woodford Manor, possibly demolished when present Woodford House was erected in 1813-26. A map of 1731 (Northants CRO) shows the house and garden complete, and can be well fitted into the existing remains. Two large terraces (gardens) lie south east of the main house site, which commands a fine view across the Nene. The house site itself, much disturbed, is marked by a large area of irregular earthworks. {AM7 1977} Faint traces of ridge and furrow remain at the eastern side of the field. The boundary here, unlike stones in the vicinity, is a substantial dry-stone wall incorporating large pieces of masonry. {AM12 1980}
