Description

House. 1856 for George Burnham. Squared coursed limestone with slate roof. Double-depth plan. 2 storeys. Garden front of 3-window range with gabled cross-wing to left. Pairs of arch head sashes to right and triple sash with Venetion style head to left. Shallow gable to left, and similar smaller gables above windows to right all with decorative barge boards and finials. Stone stacks at ridge and end. Square tower to rear projects one storey above ridge with pairs of arch head windows; conical roof with weather vane and 2 stone stacks at corners. Other elevations are similar. Entrance to rear has porch with open colonnade. Interior not inspected but noted as having original C19 staircase. Example illustrated in Loudons Encyclopedia.
