Description

Railway bridge. c.1837. Red brick faced with grey lias. Single-arched bridge spanning main road to Northampton. Round-headed arch with imposts and keyblock, flanked by massive pilaster buttresses with buffer. Moulded stone cornice and plain stone-coped parapet. An important bridge on Robert Stephenson's pioneering London-Birmingham railway line, figuring in several contemporary illustrations.
