Description

Monument. c.1936. By J.A. Gotch. Limestone ashlar. Octagonal ribbed shaft surmounted by ball finial on octagonal panelled plinth. Inscription on front of plinth. "Battle of Naseby, 14 June 1645. From near this site Oliver Cromwell had the Cavalry charge which decided the issue of the battle and ultimately that of the great Civil War". On reverse of plinth, "This memorial was accepted on behalf of the county by the Chairman of the County Council 18 May 1936. Partially illegible.
