Description
Circa 1837 by J Milne. Ashlar, hipped Welsh slated roofs behind blocking courses. Plinths floor bands, cornices. Restrained symmetrical south west front has 3 storey, 7 window central block, 3 window 3 storey end blocks, connecting 2 storey 7 window wings. Sashes with glazing bars in reveals. Slightly projecting pedimented 3 window centre has Roman Doric portico to ground floor with coupled columns. John Clare, poet, died here 1864. St Andrew's Hospital, Chapel, Chaplain's House and Main Gateway form a group together with the Occupational Therapy House, which is of local interest.
