Description
Garden remains consist of four large mounds to each corner of an enclosure 200yds (182m) square. Southern mounds are larger and surrounded by their own moats on the south. The canals on east and north are intact, but destroyed on west. Some external features on west destroyed by ploughing. Mounds invite comparison with that at Kirby Hall or at Leighton Bromswold. Whether interior was laid out formally as at Kirby, or whether ‘water-orchard’ was a sort of ‘wilderness’, it is impossible to say. There has been some interference in the interior. {AM7 1969}
