Description
House. Early/mid C19. Double-depth plan. Coursed squared limestone, hipped slate roof, brick internal stacks. Double-depth plan. 2-storey, 3-window range. Central bay breaks forward slightly and has double-leaf part-glazed panelled doors with panelled reveals and reeded wood surround in later C19 gabled porch. 16-pane sash windows to ground and 1st floors with flat-arched heads. Overhanging eaves. Symmetrical pilastered wood canted bay windows to left and right sides. Interior has open-well top-lit staircase with stick balusters and steeply ramped mahogany handrail. Formerly known as Hill House and the residence of the land-agent to the Wakefield Lodge estate of the Dukes of Grafton.
