Description

Folly. Late C18 reconstruction of medieval masonry. Squared coursed limestone and limestone ashlar. Archway and attached walls forming L-shape plan. Early C14 triple-chamfered 2-centred arch with semi-quatrefoil responds with base of window opening above. Attached wall has remains of double chamfered arch with similar respond. Various carved heads built into wall. Originally had additional arcades. Built with masonry from Church of St. Peter, Lilford, which was demolished c.1778.
