Full Description

{1} Folly. Late C18 reconstruction of medieval masonry. Squared coursed limestone and limestone ashlar. Archway and attached walls forming L-shape plan. Early C14 triple-chamfered 2-centred arch with semi-quatrefoil responds with base of window opening above. Attached wall has remains of double chamfered arch with similar respond. Various carved heads built into wall. Originally had additional arcades. Built with masonry from Church of St. Peter, Lilford, which was demolished c.1778. {2} Late C18th folly; reconstruction of early C14th masonry from Lilford church of St Peter which was demolished c.1778; coarsed limestone and limestone ashlar; archway and attached walls form L-shaped plan; further architectural details given.

{3} South-west of Thorpe Achurch churchyard are re-erected remains of Lilford Church which was demolished in 1778; assembled picturesquely but hardly correctly; C14th detail.

{4} St Peter's church was taken down in 1778 and 3 arches from the nave arcade set up in The Lynch below Achurch and close to river; illustration.
