Description
Institute, now disused. Late C19. Squared coursed ironstone with slate roof. Originally first floor hall with ground floor ancillary rooms. 4-window range of tall 2-light stone-mullion windows to each floor; those at first floor have pointed heads. C20 door between windows 1 and 2 from right, has fanlight over and stone lintel. Ashlar gable parapets and kneelers. Rear elevation similar. Small quatrefoil in south gable. Attached to Star Hall House (q.v.) by a single storey porch. Built as a mens temperance institute. (Finedon Otherwise Thingdon by J.L.H. Bailey, p.191).
