Description
Gatepiers and gates and forecourt pool surround. 1939. By Wilfrid Lawson Carter. Piers are of rendered and whitewashed brick with brick plinths and stone caps. Main piers have taller stone caps pierces with square and rectangular holes for lighting. Iron carriage gates between have geometrical design and there are pedestrian gates of similar design to either side of main piers. Lower piers beyond. On the axis between the entrance gates and the factory entrance is the long forecourt pool which has a flat plain surround with canted corners at the entrance end. The gatepiers and gates and pool form part of a significant group with Pearce’s Leather Works factory and generator and garage block (qv).
