Description
{1} Revealed by gravel working: double row of posts 10 ft apart, with gaps between the posts of 6 to 8 ft. The posts were about 9 in diameter and the row ran for more than 25 yds. The bases of the posts were preserved by the wet conditions of an ancient water course 8 ft below the present ground surface. No dating evidence. The gravel pit also yields Pleistocene animal bones.
