Description

{1} Archaeological excavation of an area c25m x 32m on the south side of The Riding. The earliest activity was a large quarry, in which a large stone foundation dating to the 13th century was found. Site code YWL99 [Data from NRHE: The two accounts presented in CBA South Midlands Archaeology 30 & 32 are ambiguous as to whether the evaluation was expanded to form an excavation. The former mentions the evaluation being continued as a watching brief. The latter summary meanwhile, whilst similar in most respects to the former account, describes the site in question as an excavation and makes no mention of any watching brief. Microfilm archive is limited and appears incomplete and contains no report.]
