Description

{1} An area 50m wide by 200m long was walked systematically along parallel transects aligned on the National Grid and spaced at 15m intervals. A total of 125 finds were recovered during the fieldwalking. Of these, three were of Romano-British date, comprising 1 sherd of hard-fired grog-tempered ware (mid-late 1st – 2nd century) and two sherds of grey-ware, one of which was probably part of a shallow dish of 2nd century date. There were seven sherds of medieval pottery and six fragments of abraded tile, including a fragment of nib tile. The remaining finds were of post-medieval date and include sherds of 17th – 19th century pottery, roof tile and brick. No meaningful concentrations of finds were identified.
