Description

{1} The fields containing the DMV were investigated through gradiometry and the results show a complex of ditches, enclosures and pits with Area 2. The data also show a range of activity from prehistoric through to Medieval, as a ring ditch has been identified along with medieval tenement blocks. Area 3 also produced ditch responses that may be associated with the anomalies within Area 2. The geophysical survey failed to find any evidence for the lost church but this is not surprising given the very difficult ground conditions. Small areas of resistance survey proved difficult to interpret, but they show zones of both high and low resistance, the majority of which may be due to topographical and garden features. However archaeological significance cannot be ruled out.
