Description

{1} A watching brief was carried out during the excavation of a service trench connecting the NW corner of the north aisle with Church Lane. The groundworks involved: The hand excavation of a small area in the north-west corner of the north aisle and the hand excavation of a small pit immediately outside the west wall of the north aisle. The mechanical excavation of a trench for 1.24m west of the pit described above, then north for 6.5m and finally east for 41m along the north side of the church to connect with main services in Church Lane. Three brick-built burial vaults were observed, and numerous undated burials were noted along the north side of the church. Minor details of the north aisle were recorded.
