Description
{1} Northamptonshire Archaeology was commissioned by Sir Roger Martin and Grace Martin to conduct an earth resistance survey on their land at Thorpe Waterville. The survey investigated three closely adjoining areas in the immediate vicinity of Thorpe Castle House with a total extent of c.1.3ha; one within a suspected moat, another to the north of this feature and a third slightly to the west, alongside a standing medieval building. The survey confirmed that a large stone structure with corner towers stood within the moated area and suggested that further structures occurred to the east. Some other anomalies, of less obvious significance, were also detected.
