Description

{1} 10 trial trenches were excavated across the site, designed to investigate various geophysical anomalies detected in an earlier survey as well as test 'blank' areas to act as a control. The trial trenching found no strong evidence of archaeological activity. The only features identified were a former field boundary ditch and three burnt out tree stumps. No dateable artefacts were recovered from any of the excavated features. The majority of geophysical anomalies were shown to represent variations in the natural geology
