Description

{1} Small-scale excavation found a 12th century building on summit of motte; demolished soon after. A 13th century windmill was demolished in the 15th century. Notes made by EI compiler at Northampton Museum in 1987 suggest the presence of archive material from this site in the collection there. A pencil annotation on the same document also mentions '30 sherds of pot'. An additional document (apparently of similar date & contained in Northamptonshire EI questionnaire file), however, lists archive from the site as being in the hands of Mr Hall. Mr Hall, meanwhile, suggests that finds and a copy of the archive from this investigation may have been passed into the care of Wollaston Museum in 1988. The original files remain in his keeping. (Mr D N Hall. E-mail 13. 9. 04.).
