Description

Inspection was carried out by W. F. Assheton R.I.B.A. on 26th September 2012 on a damp overcast day which had been preceded by a very wet summer. The medieval church is located in the centre of a rural village and is surrounded by residential properties and consists of a nave, chancel, north and south aisles, south eastern Griffin Chapel, west tower, spire and a south porch. The walls are in limestone or ironstone, the roofs are shallow pitched lead covered, that to the nave being continuous with both aisles, there being no clerestory.
